The main larger bristles are designed to soften the cuticles and stimulate nail growth. There are six rows woven into an easy-to-grip bamboo base. The four rows of shorter bristles on the top of the brush are stiffer, designed to clean underneath the nails.

Tampico fibre or Mexican fibre is the yellow leaf fibre of the agave cactus, which grows only in the highlands of northern Mexico, giving Mexico a natural monopoly on the material.
